The realme GT8 Pro is the latest flagship from realme, announced on 21 October 2025 in China, and confirmed for global launch in November.
With “Pro” in the name and a spec-sheet that tries to push boundaries (200 MP periscope camera, 7,000 mAh battery, modular camera design) the device is clearly aimed at the premium end of the market. Realme’s goal appears to be challenging the entrenched flagship players by offering a feature-rich phone at a relatively competitive price.
It uses the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset.
A very large 7,000 mAh battery.
Top-tier camera hardware, including partnership with Ricoh (of GR camera fame) for imaging.
A display that ticks all high-end boxes: 2K+ resolution, 144 Hz refresh etc.
Design & Build
Body, materials and finish
The GT8 Pro offers multiple finishes. According to announcements: colours include “White” plus Blue and Green variants with different texture/leather-like materials.
One especially interesting (and unusual) feature: the rear camera module is mechanically detachable/swappable (camera deco modules) users can choose from different styles (square, round, robot-style) or even 3D print custom covers.
Ergonomics & build quality
The device measures approximately 161.8 × 76.87 × 8.2 mm and weighs 218 g (for the 12 + 256 GB variant, per the announcement
For a 6.79″ display device with 7,000 mAh battery, those dimensions are not bad, but the 218 g weight is on the heavy side compared to some lighter slim flagships. So hold it in hand if you can.
Display
The display is another highlight of the GT8 Pro.
Specifications
- 6.79-inch AMOLED (flexible) panel with QHD+ (3,136 × 1,440 pixels) resolution.
- Refresh rate up to 144 Hz which is ultra smooth.
- Touch sampling rate / responsiveness: 3,200 Hz instantaneous touch sampling rate claimed
- Peak brightness apparently quite high (some sources say up to 7,000 nits peak
- Full colour gamut: 100 % DCI-P3, 100 % sRGB.
- Additional features: hardware-level DC dimming (helps reduce flicker at low brightness).
Performance & Hardware
Processor & Memory
- Chipset: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 (3nm process) currently the flagship SoC from Qualcomm at the time of announcement.
- Memory: Up to 16 GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1 TB UFS 4.1 storage
- Storage variants: 12+256 GB, 16+256, 12+512, 16+512, 16+1TB (for Pro) per Chinese market pricing.
Cooling & Performance Enhancements
- “7000 mm² VC cooling” for heat dissipation.
- “GT Performance Engine” Realme’s own enhancements for gaming and high-frame-rate monitoring.
Real world expectations
- With the top chipset and fast memory/storage, the phone should handle everything: heavy games multitasking, streaming, editing, etc.
- Storage is large enough for large apps, high-resolution video, etc.
- The big RAM helps future-proof for multi-tasking and heavier workloads.
- Gaming: The high touch sampling rate + high refresh + strong GPU mean that this phone is very much tailored to gamers.
- Thermals: With big battery, high specs, modular back etc, thermals could be a consideration finishes matter (see design section).
Cameras
Probably one of the largest “unique selling points” of the GT8 Pro is the camera system and the partnership with Ricoh.
Rear Camera Setup
- Primary: 50 MP Ricoh GR-tuned sensor with anti-glare lens (7P high-lens array deep-absorption blue glass; double-layer AR coating) bringing reflectivity down to 0.2%
- Telephoto periscope: 200 MP Samsung ISOCELL HP5 sensor (1/1.56″) with 3× optical zoom, 6× lossless zoom, supports 8K video at 30 fps, 4K at 120 fps.
- Ultra-wide: 50 MP sensor with 116° field-of-view.
Additional camera features:
- Ricoh GR Mode: mimics 28 mm and 40 mm focal lengths; includes GR-style shutter sound; Snap mode; Viewfinder mode.
- Five Ricoh GR photo tones: Standard, Positive Film, Negative Film, Monochrome, High-Contrast.
- 25 cm telephoto close-up mode
- Video features: 8K at 30fps, 4K at 120fps on periscope cam.
Front Camera
- 32 MP front-facing (selfie) camera.
Battery & Charging
Battery
- The phone packs a 7,000 mAh battery large by current flagship standards.
- Realme uses this as a key differentiator; larger battery capacity means longer use between charges (especially with high refresh reducing battery).
Charging
- Wired charging: 120 W support (for the Pro model).
- Wireless charging: 50 W wireless flash charging supported.
- Other battery/charging features: “Second-generation Titan battery” referenced in spec list for GT8 series.
Implications
- With 120W wired charging, you can expect a full charge in under ~30 minutes (in ideal conditions) given current benchmark speeds in this class.
- The large battery + fast charging is a combination many users desire the worry with high refresh rate phones is that battery drains quicker, but the big capacity should help.
- Wireless charging at 50W is strong for a phone in 2025 many phones only support ~30-40W wireless.
- If Realme supports good battery-management (thermal, degradation), this device could be robust.
Software
- The phone runs Android (version unspecified) with realme UI 7.0 on top.
- Given the high end nature, one would expect multiple years of OS & security updates though exact support promises from Realme not yet fully published.
Connectivity & Other Features
- Dual-SIM support.
- 5G support
- . A note: The GT8 series is said to support “N79 and 21 global 5G frequency bands” per one source.
- WiFi 7 support is mentioned in some specs.
- Bluetooth version (v6.00 per one spec list)
- NFC, USB-C, in-display ultrasonic fingerprint scanner for biometrics.
- IP ratings: IP66/IP68/IP69 dust/water resistance
- Speakers: dual symmetrical speakers mentioned (per reddit/preview).
Implications
Good connectivity and feature set for a flagship device. The presence of WiFi 7 is forward-looking.
IP69 rating is exceptional (rare in smartphones).
Real-world experience of UI (realme UI) may matter: Realme’s UI has had mixed reviews historically
Software support (years of updates) is something to check before purchase in your region.
Global availability
- The global launch is confirmed for November 2025
- Indian pricing is not yet confirmed (as of sources) but one estimate from Indian pricing site lists ~₹50,000 for base variant.
